Follow Jesus

Here at Foundry Community Church, our vision is all about following Jesus. To become a follower of Jesus, we encourage people to talk to Jesus, read about Jesus in the Bible, and begin to live their life in a way that Jesus teaches us to.

Following Jesus often looks like this:

Praying a simple prayer

“Dear God, I thank you that you see me just as I am. I say ‘yes’ to Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Saviour today. I believe that Jesus died for me and I believe that He rose again. I give you every part of my life. Please forgive me of my sins. Be my God. Change my life and give me a brand new start. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Talk to God

Praying is simply talking and listening to God. You don’t have to have a qualification in Theology or have been a Christian for years to talk to God. You just have to be real. Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6. The Message version of the Bible puts it like this:

The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall from that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:

Our Father in heaven, reveal who you are.
Set the world right; do what’s best-as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything you want! You’re ablaze in beauty!
