Prayer On The Go

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  • Prayer is a conversation between us and God.
  • We listen and we speak.
  • We can pray regularly and often with our mouths. Setting aside time to pray is vital. We hear God. We speak to God. We are changed by God in the process.
  • But prayer doesn’t stop when we close our Bible and get up from our place of prayer. Because of the Holy Spirit in us, and because God is also outside of us (He is everywhere) we can pray constantly – on the go.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says this: ‘pray continually’.
  • Not to be confused with ‘constantly being in the action of prayer’ physically. That would be impossible.
  • Its more about being at prayer inwardly. Being aware of God, looking for God, thanking God in the everyday moments, asking God for help in the difficult times, groaning to God in the crazy times and the things that we just don’t understand.
  • It’s about being with God always, just as He is with us always.
  • Prayer – on the go will change our lives, will make each moment holy, and enable us to grow our faith.
  • Keep going in prayer.

  • How am I finding prayer? On a scale of 1-10, where would I put my prayer life?
  • How can I pray ‘on the go’ this week? How can I remind myself to do it?
