Treasure in Heaven

Jesus saw that crowds were following him, so he went up on a mountainside and taught them.  
This section of scripture, starting in Matthew 5, is often called the ‘Beatitudes’….the beautiful attitudes! Jesus’ teaching doesn’t alter although 2,000 years have past. It’s still as relevant and life changing for us in 2023, as it was when he first spoke to the crowds gathered on the hillside, clinging to his life giving words.  
One of the tough topics he covered that day was about ‘Treasure in Heaven’. It was a challenge, as it went against the thinking of the day – like a lot of Jesus teachings did! It was a challenge about storing up treasure in Heaven that wouldn’t rust or decay, rather than treasure on earth that was open to rusting, decaying and being taken by thieves! In ten words, Jesus sums up by saying ‘where your treasure is, there your heart will be also’. 

So, the question is, where is your treasure ……. and are we treasuring what God treasures?
